The Mother of God the unburnt bush

Original hand painted icon, based on an old byzantine model but rendered in the ethiopian style. 
The idea for this model of icon came from the Monastery of St Catherin in Sinai. As the burning bush was able to host the presence of God without being consumed, Mary carried Jesus in her womb. It is a very special way to represent scenes both from the Old Testament and the new. And an unique way to represent the Virgin with Jesus.
